Today Alan and I sat around drinking beer and surfing the internets while Gretchen and Mum sewed up a storm. They made five cushion covers (one is yet to be completed, so the photo below is minus one) and Gretchen re-covered an old chair.

OK, we are off to the movies. Here are the photos.

OK Anna, Here We Go

30 December 2009

So, after some pestering I finally got around to posting some photos of our efforts in the front yard. Only the last three photos are from our recent (Christmas 2009) working-bee, the rest are for comparison only. Finally it’s looking something like a real front yard. The white bags are temporary. They are bags of “calf-sawdust”, which I’ve been told is basically just cow crap and sawdust mixed together. Only $2 a bag. What a bargain.

Vege Garden Vol. 2

31 October 2009

So the ’09 / ’10 vegetable growing period is upon us. Gretchen and I have spent five of the last seven days (more-or-less) down in the bottom of the garden, working on revamping the vege patch. The new retaining wall is mostly my doing. Unless it falls down, then someone else can take the credit! It was all made possible by vouchers from family from Christmas and Birthday, so thanks to you all! Never-the-less, we sunk (I’d like to say “invested”) just on $300 in this year’s planting effort. Still, we ought to get nearly that much back out. Hopefully. Anyway, here are some photos from the wall building and the post-planting phases.
